Mazak Multiplex

Twin-spindle, dual-turret production turning

High-volume parts that benefit from both spindles cutting at once — typically completing the part in a single cycle while the next blank is fed and gripped on the other side.

What the Multiplex family is

Multiplex is Mazak's twin-spindle dual-turret production line. Two spindles facing each other, each with its own turret, often with a Y-axis on one or both sides. Done right, you're cutting on two parts simultaneously, or transferring main-to-sub and cutting the back side while the front loads the next blank.

It's a specific tool for a specific job: volume parts where the cycle time math justifies the machine. A Quick Turn-250MSY is easier to set up and run. A Multiplex pays back when you're running thousands of the same part per month and every second of cycle compounds.

I've worked twin-spindle production lines including the Metaldyne engagement on a twin-spindle 6-axis lathe with gantry robot — those are the kinds of installs Multiplex shines on.

Controls that shipped on Multiplex

Across generations, these are the Mazatrol controls you'll find on a Multiplex. Older controls are harder to get parts and programmer support for; newer ones have the modern simulator and unit logic.
